Under 11s lose out in nail biting finish!
This morning our young Under 11 side had their second game away at Geddington. After last weeks good performance against an experienced Kettering side we were really hopeful of our first win since 2020.
Weldon lost the toss and were put into bat. All 8 players batted with confidence and all scored runs. Special mention to Henry and Cohen who faced Geddington’s opening bowler who found a lot of pace and bounce in the pitch. Weldon finished on 228 and felt we had a score we could defend.
We had the perfect start when Tommy bowled their opener first ball and spirits in the team were really high. Cohen and Woody then took wickets in the middle of the innings and we knew it was going to be close.
Unfortunately Geddington’s last pair batted really well and just saw them home, scoring 229, and winning by just one run.
Although the players were disappointed at the end all the other coaches and I were really pleased with their effort in the field and focus in both innings.
Next week we have Rothwell Town at home in the Cup so we will rally and if we continue to develop and keep the same intensity as he last two matches our first win isn’t going to be far away.
